"Idol" host Ryan Seacrest preps music show for NBC

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) – "American Idol" host Ryan Seacrest is in early talks with NBC to do a music-themed show that he promises will not compete with the Fox juggernaut.
Unlike "American Idol," the new project is not a traditional competition show, nor is it clear that Seacrest would serve as host. The concept is still being fleshed out. Seacrest's "Idol" pact, worth $15 million a year, bars him from appearing on a rival broadcaster until 2012.
In recent years, Seacrest has been expanding his footprint behind the camera as a producer, with a string of shows at E! (four iterations of the Kardashian franchise, "The Dance Scene"), ABC ("Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution") and TLC (the upcoming "I Kid," hosted by Brad Garrett).
